Anonymous Player Aliases for Private Games#789

P

When playing private games with a regular group of friends, we often know each other’s Colonist usernames. This can lead to favoritism or personal bias when choosing who to rob, especially with “Friendly Robber” disabled.

Could you add an Anonymous Players option for private games?
When enabled, each player could be assigned a temporary/random alias such as Player A, Player B, Player C, Player D, with their actual username hidden from the other players for that game. Ideally, player colors could also be randomized so players can’t easily identify each other based on their usual color.
The identity mapping could remain hidden until the game ends, when the real usernames could be revealed.

This would make robber decisions much more strategic and objective. Players would have to decide who to rob based on the board, resources, development cards, victory points, and overall strategy, rather than friendship or personal animosity.
This would be especially useful for groups that play together regularly and already know everyone’s usernames and usual colors.

The goal isn’t to change the rules of the robber; just to remove real-world relationships from the decision of who gets targeted.
I think this could make private games significantly more competitive, fair, and fun.
